  • TEMPE - August 18, 2020 - ASU Now - Sun Devil Welcome - Sun Devils hopefully will be able to celebrate wins with basketball Coach Bobby Hurley in 2021, at the virtual Sun Devil Welcome, Tuesday, August 18, 2020. The annual pep rally introduces all incoming students to the University's 15 schools and colleges, its four main campuses and what it means to be a Sun Devil.

  • This series of photos highlights the Allison family, three-generations of Native Sun Devils (past, current and future), who are well-known in the Native Sun Devil community for their volunteerism, giving back nature, and showing up at numerous campus events (American Indian Convocation, Cal Seciwa Feast, athletic games) to support our Indigenous students. <br />
<br />
Parents Shawn and Eileen Allison attended and graduated from ASU, first meeting as students. In 1994 Shawn Allison kickstarted the family legacy when he received a B.S. in Finance followed with his M.B.A. in 1996. In 1997 Shawn’s mother Faye Allison received her Master of Social Work, and Eileen Allison earned her B.S. in Construction Management in 1998. All four of their children have followed in their parent’s path to become Sun Devils too. The children's grandparent has also graduated from ASU (not seen in the photos).<br />
<br />
The Allison children include : Shandi (sister, the youngest child, seen in the photos with bangs), Junior (brother, is the oldest child and 2018 ASU graduate, seen in the photos with a short and precise cut), Shay (brother, current junior (FY20), seen in the photos with somewhat wavy hair), and Shalee (sister, who is a first-year student at ASU (FY20) who started this semester, seen with long straight hair).

Blake Pivaroff intends to major in business and play baseball for the Sun Devils. Nearly 1,300 out-of-town students joined more than 10,500 others in moving into the Tempe campus residence halls. Though the process is taking two weeks amid the pandemic, ASU University Housing is taking safety precautions and respecting social distancing a much as possible. Once moved in, new Sun Devils will have orientations and parties for their hall floors, schools and campuses, with some being virtual and others will have limited numbers on site.
