Sen. Mark Kelly (D-AZ) talks with engineering doctoral candidate Eugene Hsu about work research work as he tours the ASU NanoFab at the Engineering Research Building on Thursday, February 22, 2024. Hsu presented his research on ways to create power transistors, which are individual semiconductor switches that regulate the flow of electrical power, from diamond and boron nitride. The senator, who has a graduate degree in aeronautical engineering, discussed students’ microelectronic and semiconductor research during the hour-long tour. Sen. Kelly witnessed activity supported by the CHIPS and Science Act inspiring student engagement and developing the workforce of the future on the Arizona State University campuses.
