Fourth-year fashion design student Alec Trujillo adjusts part of his shirt/wrist technology combo on a mannequin in the Wearable Technology class on Monday, November 20, 2023. The shirt will be worn during exercise and will offer programs based on cartoons and other popular children's adventures. The fashion design class, led by associate Professor Galina Mihaleva is collaborating with engineering students to create robotic adaptive apparel devices for local kids undergoing cancer treatments and receiving outpatient services at the Amanda Hope Rainbow Angels nonprofit, where the devices will be used in a therapeutic setting.
