Third-year pre-veterinarian medicine student Jennifer Kobs and third-year conservation, biology and ecology student Sierra Planck, right work on a foot-wide and foot-deep hole to plant a prickly pear cactus near the burrowing owl habitat, Tuesday, September 28, 2021, on the southwestern part of the Polytechnic campus. Third-year psychology student Larissa Campbell, left, and third-year conservation, biology and ecology student Delaney Sevchik (green top) look on. The cactus will attract bugs and small food for the owls, yet it’s located far enough from the habitat to prevent predators from going unseen. Other students monitor the six habitats that were built in the spring. Photo by Charlie Leight/ASU News
