DownloadTEMPE - Mar. 26, 2018 - ASU Now - Arianne Cease – The grasshoppers in the lab consume a great quantity of wheat grass, leading the lab workers to progressively germinate and grow trays of the food source. Assistant Professor Arianne Cease, the founding director of the Global Locust Initiative, runs a variety of research projects through her locust labs on the Tempe campus. She notes that all locusts are grasshoppers, but not all grasshoppers are locusts. The studies involve the stimuli which causes grasshoppers to change from solitary individuals to swarm and cause devastation to crops around the world. Photo by Charlie Leight/ASU Now
