Recent ASU graduate, Nathaniel Chan, left, is joined by his Sole Sports Running Zone friends, Shayna Weir and Melissa Ruse, back, on an early morning trail run, Tuesday, May 25, 2021, in the Superstition Mountains. They are running from the Carney Springs Trailhead off of Peralta Road, outside of Gold Canyon. Chan earned a BS in urban planning, Ruse is a photographer and Weir is an occupational therapist and community college cross country coach. They will be participating in the Global Running Day, Wednesday, June 2, 2021. The event is a worldwide effort to encourage everyone to get moving. According to its website, the day plays an important role, reminding us of the positives that running can offer and the power of unification. Its mission seems more important than ever right now, as people everywhere attempt to stay active and healthy. Global Running Day is the first Wednesday of June.
