Navy ROTC Midshipmen line up before the Change of Command Ceremony early Tuesday morning on the Old Main Lawn. In a ceremony as old as the United states Navy, the command of the ASU Naval ROTC Battalion “The Sea Devils” changed hands as MIDN Katlin Forster was relieved by MIDN Michael Swahn. The Battalion was assembled on the lawn in front of Old Main, the orders for the two leaders were read and the US Navy Flag was passed from the off-going commander to the on-coming commander as a symbol of the transfer of authority. This ceremony mirrors that conducted in the Fleet. As the new commanding officer of the “Sea Devil” Battalion, Midshipman Commander Swahn will be directly involved in formulating and executing policy that will influence how the unit trains the new generation of Navy and Marine Corps leadership. The off-going Commander, Midshipman Katlin Forster, will be commissioned as an ensign in the United States Navy following graduation, and then attending flight training in Pensacola, Florida.
