TEMPE - Nov. 15, 2018 - ASU Now - Billy Mills - Billy Mills, the Sioux Olympic gold medalist who won the 1964 Tokyo 10,000 meters, signs a copy of his 1990 book Wokini, for Summer Kirk, a senior in justice studies and American Indian Studies. He later addressed around 100 people at the Indigenous Identity and the Athletic Experience on the Tempe campus, Thursday evening, Nov. 15, 2018. His 1964 victory is considered one of the greatest Olympic upsets, because he was a virtual unknown going into the event.
