ASU Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Chris Howard speaks about "How can we be a step in LIFT ladder?" at the third-annual LIFT Summit on Tuesday, September 3, 2024, in the San Tan Ford Club in Mountain America Stadium. ASU’s LIFT Initiative (Listen, Invest, Facilitate, Teach) was created following the national backlash to the murder of George Floyd by a white police officer in Minneapolis, Minnesota, during an arrest on May 25, 2020. The University instituted 25 actions based on ideas and public comments from students, faculty and staff. LIFT is being undertaken to enhance inclusion, growth and opportunity for Black undergraduate and graduate students, faculty and staff while also expanding the University’s academic offerings, community services and collaborative relationships to benefit all underrepresented groups and individuals at ASU.
