Biology 494 students work with post-doctorate instructor Emma Goodwin and professor Sara Brownell at Hayden Library on Wednesday afternoon April 13th, 2022. The special topics class entitled Learning About Research introduces community college transfer students to research methodology and is let by Sara Brownell, a neuroscientists turned full-time education researcher. Brownell’s work investigates the impact of undergraduate research experiences on students, specifically students enrolled in course-based research experiences and she has developed a programmatic assessment for biology majors that focuses on the core concepts of biology. She also explores issues related to access and inclusion in undergraduate biology, specifically the experiences of women, religious students, LGBTQ+ students, and transfer students.
