Herberger Young Scholars Academy put on its first Tech Challenge qualifying robotics competition with 29 teams at ASU Open Door on Saturday, January 27, 2024, on the West Valley campus in Phoenix. The HYSA team didn't compete due to a conflict of interest, it will compete in another qualifying round to be able to advance to the state competition. That winner goes on to the world championship tournament. Around 1500 people came to get hands-on experiences with more than 50 events ranging from K-Pop dance lessons to learning about performing CPR and trying to outsmart a lie detector test.
