ASU graduate student and member of the Sun Devils football team Ben Coleman speaks during a panel discussion on “The Impact of Sports and Media as Risk and Resilience Factors for Black Men’s Brain Health Over the Life Course” on Thursday, February 9, 2023, at Old Main on the Tempe campus. The panel was part of the second annual Black Men’s Brain Health Conference, sponsored in part by ASU’s Barrett, The Honors College; the Center for Innovation in Healthy and Resilient Aging; Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication; and the Global Sport Institute; in addition, the NFL Alumni; and the NIH. Assistant Professor Robert Turner, former professional football player and brain health investigator at The George Washington University School of Medicine and a Global Sport Visiting Scholar at ASU said, “This is why we call it the Brain Health Conference – it’s really about what we say [are] the risk factors for negative health and what also makes people resilient to problems they may otherwise have.” Photo by Charlie Leight/ASU News
