Jacob Nelson is an assistant professor at the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication at Arizona State University and a fellow with the Tow Center for Digital Journalism at Columbia University. His research looks at the relationship between journalism and the public. He is the author of “Imagined Audiences: How Journalists Perceive and Pursue the Public,” and is the co-founder of Engaged Journalism Exchange, a series of gatherings that aim to bridge the divide between journalism scholars and innovators.
