Sen. Mark Kelly (D-AZ) talks with engineering student Mihilat “Meli” Manahile as he tours the ASU NanoFab at the Engineering Research Building on Thursday, February 22, 2024. She has been involved in assisting 61 young Afghan women who recently started new lives as ASU students. The senator, who has a graduate degree in aeronautical engineering, discussed students’ microelectronic and semiconductor research during the hour-long tour. Sen. Kelly witnessed activity supported by the CHIPS and Science Act inspiring student engagement and developing the workforce of the future on the Arizona State University campuses.
