PHOENIX - July 18, 2017 - ASU Now - Ant research - Entomology postdoctoral researcher Christina Kwapich shows one of the ants from an ant colony in a wash in the South Mountain Park/Preserve, on Tuesday morning, July 18, 2017. Kwapich says the colonies around there can be 20 or more feet deep, with the queen residing at the bottom and food stores in the mid-section.
