PHOENIX - Feb. 6, 2018 - ASU Now - Global Market - ASU exercise and wellness junior Petra Morrison enjoys talking with Luma Abdlubaqi and her artisan scents at the newly-opened Global Market in Downtown Phoenix, on Tuesday, Feb. 6, 2018. The international-refugee assistance project was created and is led by Master of Social Work students Alyaa Al-Maadeed and Megan McDermott, through the Office of Global Social Work. The shop creates low-cost and low-risk entrepreneurial opportunities and engages the participants in activities that allow them to learn about the local business environment, engage with the community, and share their culture through selling their handmade crafts and goods, and promote self-sufficiency.
