TEMPE - Mar. 26, 2018 - ASU Now - Arianne Cease – Doctoral student Deanna Zembrzuski has a grasshopper with a wax harness fly into the wind from a low-speed fan in the flight arena. Both before and after having it fly for a period of time, she'll measure the carbohydrate versus protein diet it consumes. Assistant Professor Arianne Cease, the founding director of the Global Locust Initiative, runs a variety of research projects through her locust labs on the Tempe campus. She notes that all locusts are grasshoppers, but not all grasshoppers are locusts.
