Amy Ostrom, the interim dean of the W.P. Carey School of Business leads a question-and-answer panel at the Economic Club of Phoenix’s annual and virtual Economic Outlook, Thursday, May 6, 2021. Dennis Hoffman, director of the L. William Seidman Research Institute, showed data that supports a strong recovery from last-year’s recession, without much inflation; Lee McPheters, research professor of Economics at the W. P. Carey School of Business offered an optimistic employment view for all but the low-wage earners; and Mark Stapp, executive director of the Master of Real Estate Development program and Fred E. Taylor Professor in Real Estate explained that a decline in new construction following the last recession caused a pent-up demand now.
