Third-year fashion designer Lizbeth Vigueria-Ramirez cuts fabric for her butterfly catcher shirt in the Wearable Technology class on Monday, November 20, 2023. The children's cancer treatment facility has a butterfly theme, and the shirt will have technology to allow the young cancer patient to be aware of their respiration and heart rate so they can practice mindfullness to control nervousness. The fashion design class, led by associate Professor Galina Mihaleva is collaborating with engineering students to create robotic adaptive apparel devices for local kids undergoing cancer treatments and receiving outpatient services at the Amanda Hope Rainbow Angels nonprofit, where the devices will be used in a therapeutic setting.
