Manufacturing engineer Rob Woodward does a detailed cleaning of the E-THEMIS imager that will be part of NASA’s Europa Clipper mission, Wednesday, May 18, 2022, in a clean room in ISTB4, on the Tempe campus. The imager will aid in conducting a detailed study of Jupiter’s moon Europa and assist investigators in determining whether the moon could harbor conditions suitable for life in the global ocean that underlies the icy shell at the surface. The $55 million instrument is being prepped for its journey to the Jet Propulsion Lab in Pasadena for preparation for a mid-year 2023 launch. Photo by Charlie Leight/ASU News
