A cadre of ASU students are competing with other universities in NASA’s 2024 BIG Idea Challenge on inflatable systems for lunar operations. The ASU team is testing its anchoring system for deployable debris shields. The BIG (Breakthrough, Innovative and Game-changing) challenge provides students with up to $150,000 to design, develop and demonstrate creative solutions for issues facing manned lunar operations.
