ASU Now - Humanities Lab Immigration
DownloadTEMPE - Feb. 6, 2019 - ASU Now - Humanities Lab Immigration - Spanish literature senior Yolatl Perez (cq), left, gets a little advice from sophomore Alexis Robinson in Facing Immigration II, a Humanities Lab co-taught by Assistant Professor Emir Estrada and Associate Professor Alexander Aviña, on Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2019. The 13 students worked on making butterflies, a symbol of immigration and freedom, in repujado or metal embossing. Perez says her family comes from the winter home of monarch butterflies, while Robinson says her family came to the U.S. for religious freedom. The completed pieces and the students' stories will be part of a display at the Phoenix Center for the Arts on Wednesday, Feb. 20. Photo by Charlie Leight/ASU Now
