ASU Now - Humanities Lab Immigration
DownloadTEMPE - Feb. 6, 2019 - ASU Now - Humanities Lab Immigration - Sophomore Alexis Robinson injects wax into her finished aluminum relief in Facing Immigration II, a Humanities Lab co-taught by Assistant Professor Emir Estrada and Associate Professor Alexander Aviña, on Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2019. Once the wax is cooled, the project will be attached to a wooden backing, then fine-tuned with more detail and perhaps coloring. The 13 students worked on making butterflies, a symbol of immigration and freedom, in repujado or metal embossing. The completed pieces and the students' stories will be part of a display at the Phoenix Center for the Arts on Wednesday, Feb. 20. Photo by Charlie Leight/ASU Now
