Author Tommy Orange prepares to read a sample of his recent book, 'Wandering Stars,' before he engages in conversation with Professor Ruben Espinosa, director of the Arizona Center for Medieval and Renaissance Studies, as part of the RaceB4Race two-day symposium on Indigeneity on Saturday, February 8, 2025, at ASU’s Old Main. Orange is the author of ‘There There’ and ‘Wandering Stars,’ essays that explore Native American history and identity. The characters face a variety of challenges, including depression, alcoholism, unemployment, fetal alcohol syndrome, and the difficulties of navigating an "ambiguously nonwhite" ethnic identity in the United States. He is a member of the Cheyenne and Arapaho Tribes of Oklahoma. Photo by Charlie Leight/ASU News
