U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) will naturalize Professor Gary E. Marchant at ASU’s Sandra Day O'Connor College of Law. Marchant will be surrounded by family, colleagues and students as he takes the Oath of Allegiance. USCIS Branch Chief Charles Harrell will administer the Oath during this special ceremony.
USCIS, the agency within the U.S. Department of Homeland Security responsible for administering immigration benefits, often seeks special venues for naturalization ceremonies, to enable the public to experience this important step taken by hundreds of thousands of naturalized citizens annually.
Marchant, who is originally from Canada, joined the ASU faculty in 1999. In addition to being a Professor of Law, he is Executive Director and Faculty Fellow, Center for Law, Science & Innovation; Lincoln Professor of Emerging Technologies, Law and Ethics; Senior Sustainability Scientist, Global Institute of Sustainability, ASU; and Associate Director, Origins Initiative at ASU.
