First-year biology student Gabi Dimas studies the behavior around one of several burrowing owl habitats on ASU’s West campus, Monday, March 7, 2022. While some recently relocated owls have abandoned their new nests, the owls in the southern habitat remain and consume dead mice and other foods as they cautiously venture close to the entrance. Dimas is taking part in the New College Undergraduate Inquiry & Research Experiences or NCUIRE program that allows students to participate in meaningful research partnering with faculty and other undergraduates. Her goal is to become a wildlife veterinarian, specializing in wildlife rescue and rehabilitation. Photo by Charlie Leight/ASU News
