DownloadTEMPE - September 1, 2020 - ASU Now - Rio Reimagined - Tempe Mayor Corey Woods speaks at San Tan Pavilion at Sun Devil Stadium, as the Rio Salado is the 20th site awarded the Urban Waters Federal Partnership designation, and the only one from the Trump administration, Tuesday, September 1, 2020. The appointment will speed up the flood control area's transformation through access to grants and 15 federal agencies. The Rio Reimagined project spans an approximately 58-mile stretch of Rio Salado from Granite Reef Dam to State Route 85, including the Rio Salado and the Gila Rivers. It is a partnership between the eight community stakeholders along the river corridor – Mesa, Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community, Tempe, Phoenix, Avondale, Gila River Indian Community, Avondale, Goodyear and Buckeye.
