ASU Now - AZLoop
DownloadMesa - June 9, 2017 - ASU Now - AZLoop - Instrument maker/designer and manufacturing trainer Rhett Sweeney, left, watches stability team members Ayan Rafique and Rohit Kumar Ladda, right, look over material and cutting expenses to replace a flywheel that was not cut accurately, on the Polytechnic campus, Friday, June 9, 2017. Rafique is a senior in Physics and Electrical Engineering. Ladda is a second-year grad student in Mechanical Engineering. The 16-inch by .8-inch wheel is out of balance. They decided instead of ordering more aluminum and making a new one, they would have Sweeny re-cut it to the CAD specifications. The pair is working with others to build a 1/4-scale prototype of the AZLoop team's competition pod they expect to finish in a week. Afterward, it will devote its attention on building the 14-foot long pod to take to the August competition in California. Photo by Charlie Leight/ASU Now
