One of the two life-size solar-panel frames for the model of the Psyche probe is being prepared for installation Monday, July 18, 2022, in the lobby of ISTB4. The spacecraft will be suspended from the second-floor ceiling above the lobby and have a nine-foot cube probe and aluminum frames representing the large solar panels. The craft’s 78-foot length is similar to a tennis court. A dozen ASU students helped build an interactive demonstration version of the probe designed to explore a metallic asteroid. Some of the systems they highlight are Communications, Spacecraft, Navigation, Videos and a rotatable 3-D model of the actual craft. Photo by Charlie Leight/ASU News
