1976 G. Clarke Bean, chairman of the Thunderbird Board of Trustees, sits at the controls of a tractor marking the December 1976 groundbreaking for two new residence halls on the Thunderbird Campus. Also shown are Dr. William Voris, Thunderbird President; Don Cramer, architect; and on the right, Earl Bimson, member of the Thunderbird Board of Trustees. The first residence hall to be completed, Kieckhefer Hall located east of Founder's Hall, was dedicated June 18, 1977 and was the first construction on the campus since West Apartments opened in 1971.
