PHOENIX - Apr. 30, 2019 - ASU Now - Emily Masek - American Dream Academy volunteer Vladimir Calderon teaches parents, on Tuesday evening, April 30, 2019, at the Charles W. Harris Elementary School in Phoenix. Graduate student Emily Masek is working on a program at the College of Health Solutions that focuses on mother/children/family nutrition in disadvantaged populations. Parents of middle school children meet weekly through the school year, engaging with Calderon, as they learn about to guide their children to prevent substance abuse and risky behaviors, and also how to practice healthy eating habits.
