ASU Now - Eviction
DownloadTEMPE - Apr. 7, 2016 - ASU Now - Eviction - ASU grad and Harvard associate professor, Matthew Desmond poses with Amira de la Garza, his former thesis advisor, on Thursday, Apr. 7, 2016, in Coor Hall, following his talk about the year-old research he did in Milwaukee before writing his highly acclaimed book, “Evicted: Poverty and Profit in the American City.” Desmond’s stories paint a picture of poor people having to pay 70-80 percent of their income for rent and utilities, and the difficulties of trying to keep their families together. He talked about solutions that some communities, as well as other countries, use to shelter the working poor. Photo by Charlie Leight/ASU Now
