ASU Now - Light AZ Blue
DownloadTEMPE - April 16, 2020 - ASU Now - Light AZ Blue - ASU Alumni Association's Tonya Gray, right, and Tempe Mayor Mark Mitchell, along with other ASU and City of Tempe officials honor healthcare workers and first responders by painting the Hayden Butte “A” blue as part of the Light AZ Blue initiative, Thursday, April 16, 2020. Historically, ASU and the City only allow the “A” to be painted gold with the exception of the annual Echo From the Buttes event, when the initial is painted white to mark the start of the school year. The seven painters include Mayor ark Mitchell, ASU Foundation representative and Tempe City Council member Arlene Chin, Tempe Police Detective Greg Bacon, Tempe Fire Medical Rescue Chief Greg Ruiz, ASU Alumni Association representatives Gray and Douglas Owczarczak, and Alumni Associate student worker William Simmons.
