ASU fellow Sian Proctor shares her inspirational story at the week-long Inclusive and Immersive Storytelling Project: Storytelling in a New Digital Age with 23 students from ASU and Atlanta-based HBCU schools Morehouse College and Spelman College on Wednesday, June 19, 2024, at The Sidney Poitier New American Film School at the ASU Media and Immersive eXperience (MIX) Center in Mesa. The class was held in Sound Stage 3, with its 39-foot-wide, 18-foot-tall LED curved visual stage. Proctor is a commercial astronaut, a South Mountain Community College geoscience professor, an artist, a fashion designer, an author and a motivational speaker. She became the first Black female commercial spaceship pilot on the all-civilian three-day Inspiration4 orbital spaceflight in September 2021, 100 years after the first Black female, Bessie Coleman, earned her pilot’s license.
