Brianne Petritis, a graduate student in the Biological Design graduate program, loads an agarose gel for DNA analysis on Sept. 20, 2010. Petritis’s graduate research is being performed in the Virginia G. Piper Center for Personalized Diagnostics at the Biodesign Institute at ASU where researchers are analyzing proteins to discover markers for the early identification of diseases such as diabetes and cancers of the lung and breast.
